“Racism can often be found in our hearts
– in many cases placed there unwillingly
or unknowingly by our upbringing and
culture.”
– U.S. bishops, Open Wide Our Hearts
These are certainly unsettling times, the National awakening of the reality of persistent, systemic racism in our country during a global pandemic.
It is only by asking ourselves some difficult questions and answering honestly, with our faith and God by our side, that we can, hopefully, create a different world for our children.
Together, we can help to create a kinder world for all God’s children
It is never to early, or late, to open up a conversation about equality and race with our Children.
We Are All in God’s Image
Loving Father,
Thank you for the many beautiful colors
and languages of the world
and for making all your children unique.
Thank you for creating me in your image.
Thank you for loving me and making me wonderful.
Help me love like you.
Help me share your love
with all the children you have made,
for they are unique and wonderful.
Amen.
A Prayer from the book, Everyone Belongs. Inspired by the USCCB’s statement, “Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love, A Pastoral Letter Against Racism”.
